Another shot of the engine. Notice the inner fenders are gone as I pulled the clip off and started fitting the fiberglass outer fenders. The inners were sent out to the blaster and are already at my friends body shop and have been repainted black.
Another shot of the engine. Notice the stains on the intake manifold!
:-( I plan on pulling it and powdercoating it so I don't have that
problem again. However I still have to find an oven large enough
to fit it in as we were using a small home oven in our previous coating
attempts. I don't know if you can tell or not in this pic but there's
a nitrous plate under the carb.
One more engine shot. I've got temporary radiator brackets on there and ground wires all over the place to keep all the electricals running while she's mostly apart. I was having problems with the fan and a couple relays working on and off, things weren't grounding well with the inner fenders missing.
A shot of the big ass alternator my friend and I built. I've got a variable Transpo 911-O2R regulator on it and the outputs have 1/0 gauge Phoenix Gold wiring. There's also a 4 gauge feed off the hot post that feeds a distribution block for the cars electronics. The 1/0 hot wire goes to the back where the battery is mounted. In case you are wondering, the fan is off a Camaro/Firebird somewhere in the 80's-90's. It really moves a lot of air and does a super job of keeping the big engine cool. Later I plan on molding my own fiberglass shroud for it and hopefully that'll help more.
Here's a shot of the Transpo 911-O2R voltage regulator. This is a really neat piece for anyone running a large alternator as it's got a potentiometer on a cable to mount inside the vehicle or someplace convenient. With the pot you can adjust the output voltage all the way up to 19 volts if needed. Ever see an alternator lug down a running big block? With this alt and regulator it will do it! Right now I've got the regulator temporarily mounted under the dash but when the car is reassembled it will be moved to the firewall, fenderwell, or someplace under the hood.
